Shree Satya Sai Vidyalaya was founded with a noble vision inspired by the deep love and affection that Late Her Highness Rajmata Saheba had for children. She dreamt of establishing a school in Jamnagar that would nurture young minds under the divine values and teachings of Satya Sai Baba.
This dream gradually became a reality and laid the foundation of one of the most respected educational institutions in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
Growth of the Institution
By 1994, the institution had grown to 739 students across the Pre-Primary (Bal Vikas), Primary, and Secondary divisions, then known as Sai Krishna High School. At that time, the school had a dedicated team of 26 teachers committed to providing value-based education.
To reflect its expanding vision and identity, the institution was renamed:
- Shree Satya Sai Vidyalaya for the Primary, Secondary, and Higher Secondary divisions
- Shree Satya Sai Premalaya for the Pre-Primary division
Educational Reforms and Expansion
In 1997, His Highness Jamsaheb Shatrushalyasinhji Digvijaysinhji Jadeja, Chairman of the Trust, introduced a progressive educational structure by appointing a Director of Education for both:
- Rajmata Gulabkunverba Education Foundation Trust
- Shree Rajmata Gulabkunverba Saheba of Nawanagar Public Charitable Trust
Under this visionary system, every division — Pre-Primary, Primary, Secondary, and Higher Secondary — was guided by an individual Head Teacher (Acharya) responsible for academic excellence and student development.
The same year also marked the introduction of the first English Medium Lower Kindergarten batch.
Introduction of Higher Secondary Streams
The institution continued to expand academically with the introduction of new streams and programs:
- 1997: Gujarati Medium Higher Secondary General Stream introduced
- 1998: First Higher Secondary batch achieved excellent results
- 2000: Gujarati Medium Science Stream started
- 2002: First Science Stream batch graduated successfully
- 2004: English Medium Science and General Streams introduced
Today, both Gujarati and English medium sections offer Science and General streams, consistently producing outstanding board examination results. Students of the institution regularly secure top ranks in Jamnagar district and achieve recognition at the Gujarat state level.
Excellence in Technology and Modern Education
Keeping pace with the modern educational era, Shree Satya Sai Vidyalaya has also focused strongly on Computer Science and Technology education. Students have continuously demonstrated exceptional performance in academics, innovation, and technology-related subjects.
Rural Development Educational Programme
In 1998, the institution extended its mission beyond the city through the Rural Development Educational Programme. A fully subsidized Pre-Primary and Primary School was established at Shree Ranjit Farm, Nava Mokhana, in Jamnagar district to provide quality education to rural children.
Today, this rural initiative supports hundreds of students with the guidance of a committed teaching staff.
Present Strength and Legacy
Over the years, the institution has grown into one of the leading schools in Jamnagar and Gujarat.
As of 2015:
- Shree Satya Sai Premalaya (Pre-Primary School) had over 1,010 students with 32 teachers.
- Shree Satya Sai Vidyalaya (Primary, Secondary & Higher Secondary Schools) had approximately 7,500 students supported by 310 teachers.
With its strong foundation of academic excellence, discipline, moral values, and holistic education, Shree Satya Sai Vidyalaya continues to inspire generations of students and remains committed to shaping responsible citizens for the future.
